My 2009 Heat pump wasn't heating in the cold. I called John for a second opinion as I had a larger company out first who gave me an outrageous quote to fix. John came out quickly, took the time to evaluate the system and found it to be a simple fix (at a reasonable price). He topped up the refrigerant and the heat is working great. He also followed up a few days later during a cold snap to make sure everything was good. I'll call John again when the system needs replacing and for service on my other heat pump as well. He is honest about what needs to be done, gives you the pros/cons about options so that you can make an informed decision.

We had a 20 year old geothermal unit that was failing and not heating our house properly. John stopped over and had a replacement unit spec'd out in no time and took the time to explain what was wrong with the current unit, why the new unit would be better, and how the process would go. He setup order and delivery of the new unit and was there to unload it. He arrived on time to install and was thorough to make sure every HVAC part was functioning properly. He even got in our attic to make sure ducting was set up properly. If you need HVAC work, especially geothermal unit replacement or install, there is no one else in the area you should be calling but John. HIGHLY recommend.

He explained things clearly and thoroughly, without rushing or pressuring, and without trying to upsell me on things I didn't really need. I appreciated his straightforward communication style. More than anything I appreciate his honesty. He was very clear with me on all my options and what he would personally recommend, but he didn't push for the most expensive solution or pressure me to decide one way or the other. John was the 3rd technician I saw to diagnose a problem with an old furnace. He was the only one with the right solution. In an industry that is becoming harder to trust, JBN is reliable and priced fairly. Even though John recommended a cheaper fix, we were confident to replace the furnace given its age. The 5 year labor warranty free of charge was a bonus. John took my questions into consideration, ensured the new unit would support the eventual use of heating a finished basement in the future, and did not try to sell me an 80,000 BTU unit when I only needed a 60,000 BTU unit. JBN was also flexible with a short timeframe near the thanksgiving holiday. John has vast experience in the space, and a good reputation among residential and commercial experts in the Central PA area.

A certified Trane dealer installed a Trane heat pump at my home on January 9, 2020. In January 2024, that same Trane dealer, who maintained the system for the entire period of ownership, informed me that mice had damaged the components of my outdoor unit to the extent that the unit was rendered inoperable. The dealer recommended that the unit be replaced. At the time of installation, the damaged unit cost me $9,036. The dealer informed me that the price would be higher now due to inflation, somewhere in the area of $11,000. My first reaction was to attack Trane for failing to protect its heat pump systems from a known problem. Of course, Trane denied any responsibility. I contacted my insurance company and found that my homeowner's policy would not cover the problem. I then started to seek legal advice when my daughter suggested I seek a second opinion. That's when I contacted JBN Mechanicals and had the pleasure of speaking with John Mason. John inspected the complete system but focused on the outside unit. I watched John remove the unit's cover, inspect the wiring, and run a few tests. He found absolutely nothing wrong with the system. When he left my home, the system was up and running. I'm not sure what my FORMER dealer was trying to pull. I can only say that John saved me $11,000, and I'm incredibly grateful. My wife and I both had the pleasure of interacting with John. We found him personable, respectful, honest, and very knowledgeable. We hope this is the start of a long relationship with JBN and recommend him to anyone seeking help with HVAC systems.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND John and JBN! John helped us out of a jam within a couple hours of calling him and saved me a ton of money. Our 18-year old Heat Pump system stopped working. Before we called JBN, we had another company come out that told me false information. This other company told me it would cost $4,000 to refill my coolant, because I had a leak - meaning it would be so costly to repair, I had to buy a new unit. They talked me into a $20K system. After talking to a few folks who knew about this stuff, I immediately realized I might have been duped. So I called JBN - he refilled me for around $400 (not $4,000). He gave me a quote for the same equipment at a much lower price, for when we're ready to replace the system.
