Gas Furnace Installation and Repair in State College, PA
What you get when you call JBN
You're not calling a call center. You're calling John Mason directly — a licensed, certified HVAC technician with 30 years of hands-on experience and 12 years serving Centre County homeowners.
No commissioned sales techs. No upselling you a system you don't need. No pressure. Just an honest assessment of what your furnace needs — whether that's a repair, a tune-up, or a replacement.
If your system can be fixed, I'll fix it. If it's time to replace it, I'll tell you why and give you a fair price on a high-efficiency system that will last.
That's how an owner-operated business works.
Installation and Repair Services
New System Installation - If your furnace is aging out or you're building or renovating, JBN installs high-efficiency gas furnaces sized and configured for your home — not whatever's easiest to move off a shelf. Every installation includes a full load calculation, proper sizing, and clean commissioning.
Repair & Diagnostics - Furnace not heating? Short cycling? Making noise? JBN provides honest diagnostics and repair on most major brands. You'll get a clear explanation of what's wrong and what it will cost before any work begins.
System Tune-Ups - A neglected furnace runs harder, costs more, and fails sooner. Annual maintenance keeps your system running efficiently and catches small problems before they become expensive ones.
Today's Gas Furnace Technology
If you're used to your furnace kicking on hard, blasting hot air, and shutting off just as fast — that's old technology. The high-efficiency systems being installed today work completely differently.
Modern variable speed furnaces modulate their output to match exactly what your home needs at any given moment. Instead of full blast on, full blast off, they run longer at lower capacity — circulating air slowly and evenly throughout the house. The result is steadier temperatures, fewer cold spots, and a level of comfort that's hard to appreciate until you've experienced it.
You'll also notice the difference in noise. These systems run quieter than anything you've had before. And because they're not cycling on and off constantly, they're easier on components and last longer.
On the efficiency side, today's top-tier gas furnaces operate at 96–98% AFUE — meaning nearly all the fuel you're paying for is converted directly to heat. Compared to a system from 15 or 20 years ago running at 80% or less, the savings add up fast.
If your current furnace is more than 15 years old, there's a good chance you're paying significantly more to heat your home than you need to be.
